A New Innings Begins: Arvind Suresh Joins ECA Pakenham as Head Coach

Today marks an exciting new chapter for cricket in Melbourne’s south-east. Elite Cricket Academy is delighted to welcome Arvind Suresh, who joins ECA Pakenham today, 15 August 2026, as Head Coach.

Arvind arrives at an important moment for our Pakenham centre. Opened in May 2026, the academy is bringing structured coaching, professional indoor training and a connected development pathway closer to players and families across the south-east. His appointment strengthens that promise with a coach whose experience spans academy programs, community cricket, pathway teams, senior players and women’s cricket.

Experience built across Chennai and Melbourne

Arvind’s coaching journey began in Chennai in 2011 at Gen-Next Cricket Institute, founded by R. Ashwin. He joined the original high-performance spin program and assisted Head Coach Sunil Subramaniam with specialist sessions for elite junior and senior cricketers. As the academy expanded, Arvind also supported year-round coaching, summer camps, tournaments, player communication, scheduling, enrolments and day-to-day academy operations.

After moving to Melbourne in 2016, he joined Carnegie Cricket Club and built his Australian coaching experience from the junior game upwards. He coached Under-12, Under-14 and Under-15 teams before moving into representative girls’ cricket and senior coaching. His work has included the ISE Scorpions Under-14 Girls in the Youth Premier League, Stars Metro in the Youth Super Series and his continuing role as an Assistant Senior Coach at Carnegie.

In 2022, Arvind also served as the inaugural coach of the Afghanistan women’s playing group in Melbourne. He helped create a safe and welcoming cricket environment following the players’ evacuation and resettlement in Australia, combining structured technical coaching with empathy, cultural awareness and a strong sense of belonging.

His perspective extends beyond the nets. Between 2017 and 2022, Arvind worked professionally in community cricket and cricket development at Cricket Victoria, building a detailed understanding of Victoria’s club, pathway and high-performance landscape. That combination of hands-on coaching, academy operations and industry experience gives him a valuable view of what players need at every stage.
