If you live in Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, Tarneit, Point Cook or Truganina and your child has caught the cricket bug, you don’t need to wait for the club season to get them started. Elite Cricket Academy runs junior squads for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 all year round at our indoor centre at 87 Elm Park Drive, Hoppers Crossing.
This guide covers what a junior squad includes, when squads run, what they cost, and the easiest way to give your child a first session.
More than a net session
A lot of junior cricket coaching stops at “hit some balls, bowl some overs”. Our squads are built around the whole player:
- Experienced, qualified premier coaches. Our coaches have helped hundreds of juniors progress into representative, sub-district and premier cricket pathways. They coach technique properly from the first session, at a level that suits each child.
- A fitness plan and a diet plan. Every squad player gets a fitness plan and a diet plan, so the habits that matter off the field start early.
- Pathfinder. Our online platform for elite cricketers, where players and parents can see coach notes, skill ratings and session video. It turns “how did training go?” into something you can actually look at together.
- An international pathway. Elite runs its own centre in Chennai, and VECL has a partnership with the Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC) in Bengaluru. For juniors who keep developing, that is a pathway very few academies can offer.
When junior squads run at Hoppers Crossing
Junior squads run seven times a week:
- Saturday 9:00am and 10:00am
- Sunday 9:00am and 10:30am
- Tuesday 6:00pm
- Thursday 6:00pm
- Friday 5:30pm
Each session runs for 90 minutes. All squads are for boys and girls aged 5 to 12, and our coaches place each player in the group that suits their age and development. That way a five-year-old picking up a bat for the first time and a 12-year-old pushing for a representative side both get coaching pitched at the right level.
Squads keep running through the school holidays, so your child’s progress doesn’t stop when term does.
What it costs
Junior squads at Hoppers Crossing are $235 a month for one session a week, or $435 a month for two (prices include GST). Membership is monthly and managed through our booking app, so you can see your child’s sessions and payments in one place.
Uniform is sold separately at reception and is the only cost on top of the program fee. You don’t need to buy a full kit straight away. Our coaches will tell you what your child actually needs, what size and when, and our on-site sports store at the centre can help when you’re ready.
Your child’s first session is free
New juniors can try a squad with a free first junior group session. It’s the easiest way to see the coaching, meet the coaches and find out whether your child enjoys it before you commit.

What to bring
For a first session, your child just needs comfortable sports clothes, runners and a water bottle. If they already have their own bat or gear, they’re welcome to bring it. If not, that’s fine: tell the coach on the day and they’ll sort it out.
