Junior Cricket in Pakenham: Squads, Times and What Your Child Gets

Pakenham and the surrounding suburbs have no shortage of cricket-mad kids. What families often struggle to find is coaching that’s consistent, year-round and properly structured. Elite Cricket Academy Pakenham, at 14/99 Bald Hill Road, runs junior squads for boys and girls aged 5 to 12, close to home for families in Pakenham, Officer, Berwick, Beaconsfield and Koo Wee Rup.

Here’s what junior squads at Pakenham look like and how to get started.

Who junior squads are for

Our junior squads are for boys and girls aged 5 to 12, from complete beginners to juniors already playing club cricket. Coaches place each player in the group that suits their age and development, so nobody is thrown in the deep end and nobody is held back.

When squads run

Junior squads at Pakenham run twice a week:

• Monday, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
• Saturday, 9:30am to 11:00am

Pakenham doesn’t run a Sunday junior squad. If a Sunday suits your family better, our Hoppers Crossing centre runs two Sunday squads.

Squads continue through the school holidays.

What every squad player gets

Coaching at Elite is built around developing the whole player:

• Experienced, qualified premier coaches who have helped hundreds of juniors progress into representative, sub-district and premier pathways.
• A fitness plan and a diet plan, because good habits off the field make a difference on it.
• Pathfinder, our online platform for elite cricketers, with coach notes, skill ratings and session video that you and your child can look at together.
• An international pathway through Elite’s own Chennai centre and VECL’s partnership with the Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC), Bengaluru.

A centre built for training

Pakenham has full-length synthetic indoor lanes, the latest bowling machines and an indoor multi-sport court, plus an on-site sports store. Training indoors means sessions go ahead whatever Melbourne’s weather is doing, and juniors get the same surface every week, which is exactly what you want when you’re building technique.

A strength and conditioning gym is also being installed at the centre and opens soon.

Prices

Junior squads at Pakenham are $212 a month for one session a week, or $419 a month for two (prices include GST). Uniform is sold separately at reception. Your child doesn’t need a full kit to start: our coaches will advise what’s needed and when.

Start with a free first session

New juniors can come along to a free first junior group session. It’s a low-pressure way to see the coaching, meet the coaches and let your child decide whether they love it.
